Famine Early Warning
System - FEWS
This sophisticated U.S. AID-funded project merges
weather imagery, rainfall data, ground observation, local price information
for agricultural products and related data for the entire continent of
Africa. Its objective is to provide early warning of potential food and
water crises. Much weather satellite imagery is available online.

International
Launched in November 1995, Radarsat
International provides rapid delivery of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)
data useful in agriculture, cartography, hydrology, forestry, oceanography,
ice studies and coastal monitoring. Ground resolution can be as high as
8 meters, depending on the product.
