CCRS is Canada's lead agency for acquisition of remotely sensed data and for development of remote sensing applications. This site is in English and French and includes an on-line image browser and a clickable map of Canada. It also includes a sampling of what Landsat Thematic Mapper images could look like at much higher resolutions.

This site and its services includes the National Atlas Information Service (NAIS) of the Canada Center for Mapping. It includes geographic data about Canada and maps regarding land use, demographics, geology and ecology. Users of this site are able to create and download custom maps of Canada.

Famine Early Warning System - FEWS
This sophisticated U.S. AID-funded project merges weather imagery, rainfall data, ground observation, local price information for agricultural products and related data for the entire continent of Africa. Its objective is to provide early warning of potential food and water crises. Much weather satellite imagery is available online.

Radarsat International
Launched in November 1995, Radarsat International provides rapid delivery of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data useful in agriculture, cartography, hydrology, forestry, oceanography, ice studies and coastal monitoring. Ground resolution can be as high as 8 meters, depending on the product.
